Panic button (SoS) for faster on-site help
Emergencies and near-emergencies don’t always happen within reach of a radio, supervisor, or first aid point. With SoS in EVA Check-in, a worker can trigger an SOS/panic button alert from their phone to quickly notify colleagues on site—helping connect the person who needs help with the people most able to respond right away.
When to use the SOS button at work
SoS is designed for situations where a worker needs urgent support on site, for example:
- trapped or unable to move safely
- feeling threatened or unsafe
- injured and needing assistance
- witnessing a serious incident and needing immediate help nearby
SoS vs emergency services (important)
SoS is intended to speed up on-site response by reaching local people fast.
SoS does not replace emergency services. If there is immediate danger to life or serious injury, workers should still contact the appropriate emergency number and follow site emergency procedures.
Why we built it
On busy or spread-out sites, the fastest help is often the closest help. SoS helps reduce the delay between “something’s wrong” and “someone is coming,” supporting a safer, more connected workplace.
How to get started
If you’re already using EVA Check-in, the SoS feature can be enabled for your site and team.
Want it turned on or want a walkthrough? Contact your EVA administrator, and we’ll help you configure SoS and roll it out with the right guidance for your site.
FAQ
Does the panic button call emergency services automatically?
No. SoS is an on-site alert to help reach nearby colleagues faster. In life-threatening situations, follow your site emergency procedures and contact emergency services.
Who receives the SoS alert?
It’s intended for colleagues on site who can respond quickly. Your EVA administrator can help configure the right rollout and guidance.
When should I use SoS vs a phone call or radio?
Use SoS when you need urgent on-site help and reaching people quickly is the priority—especially if speaking isn’t practical or you’re unable to move.
